masala pav

I like cooking. When I have free time, I cook new dishes. Today, I want to introduce to you a new recipe I tried recently. This is a recipe for Masala Pav. It is a very easy to make and tasty dish.

Ingredients:

  • 2 pav buns (traditional Indian bread)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1-inch ginger, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • ½ capsicum/bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 1 large tomato, finely chopped
  • ½ tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp pav bhaji masala (traditional Indian spice mix)
  • salt to taste
  • ¼ cup water or as required
  • 2 tbsp coriander/cilantro leaves, finely chopped

Instructions:

  1. In a tawa skillet (a shallow traditional Indian pan) heat butter
  2. First, add chopped onions, chopped ginger, and garlic and fry until golden brown.
  3. Then add chopped capsicum/bell pepper and continue to saute
  4. Finally, add chopped tomato and fry untill soft
  5. Create a well to add pav bhaji masala, chili powder and salt, add a little water and mash, cook the masala well
  6. Scrape the masala to one side of the pan.
  7. Add more butter to tawa pan
  8. Cut the pav buns into half, toast them for a minute in the pan
  9. Turn over and spread a generous amount of prepared masala on both the pav buns

Finally, garnish with chopped coriander/cilantro leaves and serve Masala Pav hot with sliced onions and a piece of lemon. Enjoy!
