Winter 2015

Settlement

Airport terminal under winter snowfall.

I came to Canada the first time as a visitor, in the middle of the winter in January 2018. My first impression was that the snow was so beautiful, but at the same time the temperature was so cold. The first time I saw it snowing, I was delighted. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. It was amazing. The snowflakes were so beautiful. I remember that I went outside and let the snowflakes fall into my gloves. It was wonderful and I smiled for hours. It is something that I will always remember.

I decided to stay longer in Canada, so I started an English course in an English school that my sister's friend recommended to me. To improve my English, I tried to talk with people when I went to the library, when I was on the bus, or in places like McDonalds, Starbucks and Tim Hortons. At that time, I thought that Canadians were friendly and polite, and the security and how this country was organized impressed me.

I had the opportunity to see and enjoy Canada in all the seasons. My impression about spring, summer and fall- it was amazing. How the trees, grass and flowers were changing because of the seasons and weather was something spectacular. Everything was so colorful and beautiful.

I met my husband here in Canada, in the summer of 2018. We got married and I moved to a little town in Northern Ontario, in April, 2019. My last impression about this beautiful country was living with him. I started to do more activities outside that I never imagined to do before. I went ice fishing, drove a snowmobile, snowshoes, downhill and cross-country skiing, tubing, made snow angels in the snow, bonfires, fishing in the summer, camping, hunting, motorcycling and riding a quad. I discovered that Canadians can do lots of activities outside, so I was impressed that no matter what the season was, you can enjoy yourself and have fun. I love Canada for all the reasons that made me feel impressed.
