Canada

Mountain and lake in Banff

It's almost summer time in Canada, that time of the year when everyone is taking vacations for camping, traveling, fishing and doing lots of other outdoor activities. Canada is known as a beautiful country. There are lots of places to visit and enjoy during this season.

In July 2016, my family and I had a trip to Banff, one of the most known and beautiful places in Canada. It's a part of the Canadian Rocky Mountains Parks. To get to the park, we spent almost 12 hours driving, but when we got there, I was amazed with what I saw. Majestic mountains, jewel-coloured lakes and breathtaking scenery couldn't leave anyone indifferent.

First of all, we went to the town of Banff. That just a small resort town, but it is one of the most popular tourist destinations and I can see why! In all directions you're surrounded by beautiful mountains. The lively streets of downtown are lined with hotels, restaurants, bars and shops, as well as art galleries and museums. All buildings are unique and incredible. Quite often you can see wild animals right in town. We saw a couple of deer wandering down the street.

Then we went to see a few of Banff's famous lakes. Moraine Lake was the first one we saw. That lake is surrounded by mountains and rock piles which creates an unreal scene. Lake Louise, which was our next destination, is famous for its blue colour of water. It was definitely worth it to see it. Another lake that left a lasting impression for me was Peyto Lake. From the lake's lookout point, you can see a breathtaking view of a gorgeous lake which is shaped like the head of a wolf.

We drove through the Icefield Parkway, which is over 200 km of mountainous road and runs through the heart of Banff and Jasper. It was unforgettable! It’s the most beautiful scenic road I’ve ever experienced. There are so many places where you can stop, but even just driving through that road is already a good way to spend a day. In addition to the extraordinary views, we also saw a lot of wildlife such as elk, bighorn sheep and mountain goats.

That was one of the most amazing vacations I ever had in my life. There is so much to see and so many things you can do, so I would strongly recommend visiting that beautiful place to anyone who hasn’t seen it before. Believe me, you wouldn’t be disappointed.
