Armenian Genocide Chronology

The Armenian genocide was the systematic killing and deportation of Armenians by the Ottoman Empire. In 1915 during World War 1 Ottoman Empire made a huge massacre and they killed 1.5 million Armenians.

In April 24,1915 the Ottoman government authorities rounded up, arrested, and deported from Constantinople (now Istanbul) more than 270 Armenian intellectuals and community leaders, who were eventually murdered. In summer and autumn of 1915 Armenian civilians were removed from their homes. Most of them were women and children, old people and they were sent on death marches through the Mesopotamian desert (Syrian Desert) without food or water. The marchers were stripped naked and forced to walk until they dropped dead. People who stopped to rest were shot, survivors who reached the desert languished in concentration camps.

And my grand grandfather, he was one of those who survived. An Arabic family in Syria took him in and took great care of him. When he grew up, he moved to Aleppo and he made his own family and continued his life as an Armenian, and now, I am the third generation living my life proudly as an Armenian.

Till today, Armenians all around the world speak Armenian language. They continue living their life following Armenian culture and traditions.

32 countries all around the world recognize Armenian genocide , and one of this countries is Canada (Thank you, Canada).

Every year, on April 24, Armenians all around the world, they commemorate the genocide specially Armenians in Yerevan the capital of Armenia. People walk all the way to Tsitsernakaberd, the official genocide memorial complex, carrying with them a flower and candle. They pray for the souls of the victims.

I HOPE, ONE DAY, THE WHOLE WORLD RECOGNIZES THE ARMENIAN genocide .
